Frequently Asked Questions

What is Voices for Safe Kids?

Voices for Safe Kids is a platform where parents and caregivers can anonymously share personal experiences and concerns related to childcare. Our goal is to help parents feel less alone and to promote safer environments for children through transparency and community awareness.

Do I need an account to submit?

No. You do not need to create an account, provide your name, or sign in. Submissions are anonymous by default.

What happens after I submit?

Your experience is published immediately on the Community Experiences page. There is no review or approval process. You will receive a one-time management code that lets you edit or delete your post later.

What is the management code?

When you submit an experience, you receive a unique code (like aBc4-dEf7-gHj2). This is the only way to edit or delete your post. Save it somewhere safe. If you lose it, your post cannot be modified. This is intentional and prevents impersonation or false takedown requests.

Can I edit my post after submitting?

Yes. Go to the Manage My Post page, enter your management code, and you can edit or delete your submission.

Does anyone review or edit my submission?

No. We do not review, edit, or alter submissions in any way. Posts that violate our content policy (threats, identifying information about minors, knowingly false statements) may be removed, but content is never modified by the platform.

What information do you collect?

We collect only what you provide in the submission form. We do not collect your name, location, or browser fingerprint. If you provide an email address (optional), it is stored securely and never displayed publicly. IP addresses are logged temporarily for abuse prevention and automatically deleted after 48 hours.

Is my submission truly anonymous?

We collect minimal data and will resist disclosure through all available legal means. However, we do not promise absolute anonymity. If compelled by a valid court order, we would comply, though our minimal data collection means there is typically little to no identifying information associated with submissions.

Can a daycare request removal of my post?

No. Facilities cannot request removal of posts. Only you (via your management code) or platform administrators (for policy violations only) can remove a submission.

Can I upload documents or photos?

Yes. You can upload up to 10 files (JPEG, PNG, WebP, or PDF, max 5MB each) with your submission. These might include redacted incident reports, photos of documents, or other supporting materials. All uploaded files are encrypted at rest.

Should I include names of children or staff?

No. Do not include full names or identifying information about minors. Do not include full names of individual staff members. Facility names are permitted since they are businesses. Posts containing identifying information about children may be removed.

Is this a substitute for reporting to authorities?

No. If you believe a child is in immediate danger, call 911. To report concerns about a childcare facility, contact your state's licensing agency. In Michigan, call the Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA) at (866) 685-0006. The national Childhelp hotline is 1-800-422-4453.

How can I help spread the word?

Share the site with other parents. Use the sharing links in the footer to post on social media. The more parents who know this resource exists, the stronger our collective voice becomes.
